Excellence in Water Resources Protection and Planning Award

Nominations are now being accepted for the third annual New Jersey Section American Water Resources Association "Excellence in Water Resources Protection and Planning Award".  The award will be granted at the NJ Sections annual "Water New Years Eve", held at the end of September, beginning of October.

Details on the nomination requirements, supporting documentation and the rules are included  here and listed below.

Categories, selection criteria, and rules are outlined as follows:

 

CATEGORIES:

 

Three awards winners will be recognized; these will be outstanding examples of projects such as;

·         Groundwater Management projects,

·         Storm water management projects,

·         Stream restoration projects,  

·         Exceptional water resources management and planning initiatives.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Planning and design using a creative new or innovative approach to water resources management and planning
  • Innovative site design demonstrating a unique approach in the physical characteristics, representing high standards in site  planning and engineering
  • Demonstrated cooperation between local officials, applicants, and public thus promoting sound planning and engineering. Significant consideration will be given to nominations that demonstrate public / private partnerships.
  • Projects that embody the essence and mission of the NJ section American Water Resources Association.

RULES:

·         All entries must be Projects in the State of New Jersey, be received by Friday July 27, 2012 and must include the appropriate materials required for a proper determination

·         Projects must be recently completed or nearing completion (projects completer prior to 2010 are not eligible)

·         Previous winning projects are not eligible

·         All submitted projects are subject to an on-site inspection by the award committee

·         Nominations will be judged by an awards committee and the final award recipients will be determined by the executive board of the New Jersey section of American water resources Association

·         The New Jersey section reserves the right to make as many or few awards as it deems appropriate

·         All narrative submissions must be in electronic form, in MS WORD or pdfs.  Digital photos as jpgs, pdfs and excel spreadsheets can be submitted as well, for supplemental information.  All applicable information must be in digital format.

  • Name of the project
  • Category of the submission
  • Location of the project or action
  • Name address, email and phone number of the project coordinator
  • Narrative outline as to why the project or action is being submitted for consideration
  • Digital photos of the project in JPEG format

* NOTE; Awards are project-based.  Any person can nominate a project.  The Nominator must include the names, affiliations, and roles of the primary partners involved with the project.  Please include the name, email and phone number of the contact person should the awards committee have any questions. Websites of the projects are also helpful.

 In the event a non-project sponsor nominates a project, they should notify project sponsors/principal (s) of the nomination and obtain written approval for the nomination (letter or email approval is sufficient) and willingness to participate in the nomination process.  This should be included with the application and/or forwarded on to the awards committee prior to nomination deadline.
